Water Superintendent

The Shakopee Public Utilities Commission is accepting applications for the position of Water Superintendent.  Consideration will be given to those candidates that are knowledgeable of or possess experience in the following:

·         Operations and maintenance of water distribution system

·         Operation of water production wells, storage tanks, pump houses, chemical processes, etc.

·         Extensive knowledge of state and federal water regulations, rules, and reporting requirements

·         Extensive experience testing water quality

·         Development, establishment, and maintenance of water operating policies

·         Prior managerial experience with strong leadership skills

·         Experience in preparing and managing operating budgets, capital improvement plans, and construction management

·         Excellent written and oral communication  skills

·         Bachelor degree preferred with concentration in Public Works Administration, Engineering, or closely related field preferred, or equivalent experience.   Preference for extensive work and management experience with municipal utilities or related fields.  State of Minnesota Class B Water Operator certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.

This position reports to the Shakopee Public Utilities Manager.  Shakopee Public Utilities supplies electric and water service to approximately 16,000 electric customers and 10,000 water customers in the City of Shakopee, Minnesota (population estimated at 33,000) and adjacent areas.  Total water revenues exceed $3.5 million annually.  This position has management responsibility for a staff of eight. Senior Accountant

Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association seeks a senior accountant for our trade association. Responsible for fiscal planning and controls, preparation of financial statements, analytical reports, budgetary controls, investing funds, and supervision of finance dept. staff. BS/BA in accounting/finance. Strong software & Excel skills & comfortable with complex spread sheets & formulas. Experience with QuickBooks, nonprofit and government accounting standards helpful, but not required. Director, Financial & Administrative Services

The Owatonna Public Utilities (OPU) has an opening for a Director, Financial & Administrative Services.  Minimum qualifications for this position are the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other related field; Eight (8) years of experience in accounting or financial management preferably with a municipal utility and five (5) year supervisory experience; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) desirable.  Responsible and accountable for the overall policies, planning, organizing, controlling, directing,  and implementation of the financial activities of the utility including overseeing the Accounting Department to ensure all required and mandated  financial and accounting standards are adhered to, as well as, utility goals and objectives are met.  Oversees activities in administration, purchasing, inventory, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and fleet/transportation.  If interested, an application can be obtained at the OPU offices or by contacting Human Resources at 507-451-2480.  Completed applications, with résumés, will be accepted through Friday, August 13, 2010.  Owatonna Public Utilities Attn:  Human Resources Department, 208 S. Utility Billing Supervisor/Accountant

This position is responsible for the monthly billing of utilities, collection of payments, customer accounting, local and regulatory reporting, general accounting work as assigned by the Finance Officer and all other associated functions dealing with the timely and accuracy of a successful utility billing department. Preferred candidate for this position will have a college degree in business administration, finance or accounting and have previous work experience in municipal, governmental or utility billing or accounting procedures.  Candidate must possess management abilities, be customer-oriented and have excellent communications, organization and computer skills.  Salary range $45,000 to $56,000 plus excellent benefit package. Water & Light Plant Superintendent

SOUTH DAKOTA

 

Full-time Class I Water and Wastewater Operator

City of Volga Water and Wastewater Dept, Volga SD. Safely and efficiently maintain, construct and troubleshoot our wastewater treatment plant and wastewater collecting system.  Maintains and flushes sewer mains and maintains lift stations.  Treatment facilities include aeration, lagoons and wetlands.  Safely and efficiently maintain, construct and troubleshoot our five water wells, city pool and keep associated records, flushes hydrants, reads meters, installs and maintains water meters, and does testing mandated by State Department of Health. Assists other departments as necessary. Required Skills:  Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and climbing structures and ladders; and occasional bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, reaching, crawling, use of keyboard/computer, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Equipment used includes straight trucks over 26,001 pounds, drills, air operated tools, chain saws, and other associated equipment. Finger dexterity, good color vision and hearing, are required. On a daily basis, requires the ability to weigh/measure, read, write, and perform basic arithmetic. May require working under pressure frequently in conditions of extreme heat or cold and dirt/dust; and occasionally around fumes, chemicals, vibration, and noise. Required Experience:  Must have or be able to obtain A Class 1 Water Treatment and Water Distribution and a Class 1 Wastewater Treatment and Waste collection license within one year.  Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid SD Class B Commercial driver’s license within the first 90 days of employment. Preference will be given for individuals already certified and have knowledge of chemicals and lab procedures used in water and wastewater analysis. The incumbent will be required to participate in the stand by program which generally consists of checking systems and being on-call every other weekend which is subject to change as needed.  Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check. Salary: $12.00-$18.00 per Hr. Full-Time/Regular. Open until filled. McLean Electric Cooperative, Located in Garrison, N.D., has recently completed its Cooper/Cannon AMI Conversion.  As a result we currently have some unused meters for sale.  These are Sensus Icon meters with the Cooper/Cannon AMR Module already installed.  The face plate does not contain any utility specific information. To see a photo click here. 2.4 KV substation transformer

Truman Public Utilities (TPU) has a GE 2500 KVA rated, 69 KV to 2.4 KV (Delta/Delta) Substation Transformer for sale. Unit impedance is 7.2 Percent. The unit still sits in place at the TPU Substation. The reason the unit is available is that TPU has change the substation voltage from 2.4 KV to 12.47 KV. TPU commission will consider offers.
