Training, exercising and planning provides an opportunity to collaborate--whether it's with your utility or with your local or statewide responders. These valuable activities can help you identify shortcomings, anticipate problems, and proactively address potential consequences that an emergency may bring about.

Join other city and utility professionals at this worthwhile conference where you will engage in open-forum and roundtable discussions, share ideas and gain valuable insight to improve your effectiveness in a crisis, and collaborate with MMUA to help improve consistency across the membership.

Agenda*

Tuesday, March 16

Noon-1:00 pm  Registration Check In Open (meeting location is Stockinger Suite on the 2nd floor)

1:00 pm  Welcome & Opening Remarks

1:15-2:00 pm Breakdown of ESCC COVID-19 Mutual Aid Protocols & Mutual Aid Reports From Around the Country, Mike Willetts, MMUA.
We will explore and detail the ESCC COVID-19 Resource Guide designed to help utilities like yours with continuity of service when faced with an emergency, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The Guide is intended to help supplement your Emergency Action Plan and to help you protect your employees and others to ensure consistent operations and support throughout an emergency.

2:30-3:30 pm  Comprehensive Review of MMUA's Mutual Aid Resources and Forms, Mike Willetts, MMUA
This is a hands-on session which will include reviewing the mutual aid Agreement, work practices during the pandemic, damage assessment recovery tools, employee emergency information, time sheet, and other important documentation and resources.

3:30-4:30 pm  Preparation for Tabletop Emergency Preparedness Exercise, Marc Machacek and Mike Willetts, MMUA

Wednesday, March 17

8:30-11:00 am  Tabletop Emergency Preparedness Exercise, Marc Machacek and Mike Willetts, MMUA
Attendees will actively participate in this tabletop exercise where your city has been crippled by a storm, damaging a large portion of the electrical system. We will walk you through the process of establishing a command structure, performing damage assessment, requesting mutual aid and performing the actions of the utility over the first 48 hours following the disaster. This roundtable discussion and drill is designed to look at all aspects of the emergency and actions needed for safe working conditions, restoration of electrical power, and logistical issues associated with a catastrophic event.

11:15-Noon  Emergency Communications, Rus Poser and Brian Rolph, AT&T Public Safety Solutions
During an emergency, maintaining communications is especially challenging. Learn about FirstNet, a broadband network dedicated to first responders and those who support them. Because FirstNet is not subject to network congestion during time of an emergency, it can be a valuable asset to keep you connected even in the midst of an emergency.
