MMUA annually sponsors the Generation School. The 2017 school will be held April 18-20. This school takes hands-on training on a number of different engine/generator types to municipal power plants in host cities within a certain geographic area. Events at the headquarters city include a generation product show and reception. At this school, you will find training for well-seasoned operators or for those just starting in the generation field.
Recent topics offered include:
Arc Flash and Infrared Inspection of Critical Electrical Systems
Station Power Batteries/Chargers
Arc Protection and Flame-Resistant Clothing
RICE Rule NESHAP and EPA Clean Power Plan
New Power Plant Tours
Generation Product Show & Reception
Round Table Discussion
Hands-On Training on location (self-selected).
Hands-on training covers topics of interest on a variety of engine types. Instructors may come directly from the factory or bring years of experience from nationally-known companies. Attendees also have the opportunity to meet and discuss with their peers from municipal power plants across the state and wider region.
We now have a 4-minute rodeo recap video of the Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo, live on the MMUA YouTube channel. It features great footage and interviews with a number of key players in the event. The April 2 event was hosted by Shakopee Public Utilities and MMUA, and brought together lineworkers from across the country. Watch this video and enjoy reliving that amazing day.
