Members Conclude Business at 76th Annual Conference

A number of actions were taken at the 76th MMUA Annual Conference, held Aug. 21-23 at Madden’s Resort near Brainerd.

John Crooks of Shakopee, Chris Olson of Alexandria and Vernell Roberts of Detroit Lakes were elected to a second three-year term on the MMUA board of directors. Crooks assumed the president’s position at the conclusion of the meeting, as Bob Elston of Sleepy Eye completed his final president’s duties. Roberts was elected by the board as its secretary-treasurer. Greg French of Virginia was voted in as president-elect.

Mark Nibaur of Austin and Carol Laumer of Willmar were elected to the board. Chuck Heins of Redwood Falls and Bill Wroolie of Brainerd completed their board service.

Dennis Rykken of Sauk Centre received an Honorary Lifetime Membership Award.

Rep. Nick Zerwas received the Public Service Award.

Roger Moltzan of Detroit Lakes and Troy Adams received Distinguished Service Awards.

System Innovation Awards went to Pierre, South Dakota, and Elk River Municipal Utilities and the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency.

Charlene Jones of Proctor and Steve Moses of Heartland Consumers Power District received Community Service Awards.

Heather Nolan of Proctor and Christian Fenstermacher of Shakopee Public Utilities received Rising Star Awards.

The membership approved an overall 5 percent dues increase. Individual member dues will vary depending on 2015 revenue and sales. Affiliate and Associate Member dues were left unchanged.
