MMUA Releases 'Public Power Forward' Toolkit

February 14, 2019

MMUA today released the 'Public Power Forward' Toolkit. The document was developed to help municipal utilities during a period of rapid transformation in the electric utility industry.

New technologies have emerged, energy markets across the country have significantly changed, and customers expect and demand 21st Century services.  The changes are happening so fast that it can be hard for a utility to keep up.

To help Minnesota public power utilities navigate these changes, MMUA, Missouri River Energy Services, Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, and the American Public Power Association have developed the Toolkit.

The Toolkit is designed to give you an introduction to emerging trends in these key areas:

  • Rate design and business models
  • New technologies
  • Information technology and operational technology

The Toolkit is being mailed to all MMUA Regular Members. An electronic version of the Toolkit is also available for download at the MMUA website, www.mmua.org/news/publications.
