Power Plant Electronics Technician

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, a joint-action electric utility, seeks an electronics or electrical technician to operate and maintain an Agency-owned generation facility, located in Fairmont Minnesota, in compliance with all applicable state and federal and industry related regulations.

Qualifications for the position:

  • Two‑year degree in an electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or control systems technician program (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience in the operations and maintenance of diesel engines, combustion turbines, or electric generators preferred.
  • Knowledge of maintaining electronic instrumentation, control equipment, such as PLC’s and SCADA systems, preferred.
  • Ability to report to the generation facility within 30 minutes of contact.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal/consumer background and alcohol/drug use screening required.
