MMUA Legislative Conference Goes Virtual

January 26, 2022

Due to a number of factors, the 2022 MMUA Legislative Conference scheduled for Feb. 8-9 is being moved to a virtual event via Zoom. The times and agenda remain essentially the same, but we will now be conducting two three-hour programs via Zoom. There will be no charge for the event. See our website for full program details.

This turns into a great opportunity to attend the conference if your duties were going to keep you from joining us in St. Paul. We especially urge involvement from public power staff and leaders, mayors, city council and board members, and others who want to get involved and advocate for public power.

While we will not be conducting any in-person meetings and will not be hosting an evening reception, MMUA is still asking members to contact their legislators. Schedule a telephone call or Zoom meeting sometime after noon on Tuesday, Feb. 8 to discuss MMUA’s legislative agenda (a copy will be emailed to all registrants on Monday, Feb. 7). When the conference reconvenes on Wednesday, Feb. 9 we will have time to share the outcome of your discussions.

Those who have already registered for the in-person event will be automatically transferred to the virtual event. Registration fees received will be refunded and hotel rooms booked in the MMUA room block have been cancelled.

Those who would like to join us, but have not registered can do so on our website or by contacting Rita Kelly at rkelly@mmua.org by Friday, February 4 to receive the Zoom link. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Kelly (rkelly@mmua.org) or Kent Sulem (ksulem@mmua.org).

The American Public Power Association legislative rally is still expected to occur in person in Washington, D.C., Feb. 28-March 2.
