May 13, 2022

On Monday, May 23 from 1:00-2:30 pm, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is holding a virtual workshop focusing on the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) plan, which is a component of the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

NEVI provides funds for states to install fast chargers for electric vehicles along “Alternative Fuel Corridors.” identified in state plans for utilizing allocated funds of which Minnesota is set to receive $68 million. MnDOT’s tentative plan currently designates I-35 and I94 as the state’s only Alternative Fuel Corridors.  However, its EV Work Group, in which MMUA participates, recently indicated that I-90 is a likely candidate for designation in 2023.

MnDOT seeks public input on their plans the siting of fast-chargers along the corridors and related issues. MMUA encourages interested members to register and attend the workshop.
