Governance In Action: View from a commissioner's chair
Training for utility commissioners and local leaders
Developed as the result of input from dozens of members, the presenters will address many of the questions that often arise in municipal towns. The one-day event will help newer commissioners understand their role, offer some basic information about utility structure, and principles for excellence as they serve. We'll cover the municipal model, statutes addressing the powers of a commission, MISO, energy markets, rate setting, and more. The session is also suitable for more seasoned commissioners who may have questions about the relationships between the commission and the city council, or the lines between governance and operations. Taught by subject matter experts, the January 23 session in St. Cloud will be a great learning and networking experience.
