Gas School

MMUA is pleased to offer technical training for natural gas personnel.

Hands-on training: locating and leak field investigation

  • Locating is an important part of damage prevention. This school will provide an overview of one call law changes, along with best practices to provide the most precise locating accuracy while in the field. Please bring your locator if you want to get pointers or see how it performs in the field. There will also be a variety of locators and experienced instructors to help improve operator abilities.
  • The gas leak field will allow operators to get valuable experience in a controlled environment. Experienced instructors will provide information on natural gas properties, proper equipment usage, leak detection procedures, classification, response, and reporting. There will be various leak detection equipment available, but please bring your own if possible to see how your equipment performs.

Other topics that may be covered include:

  • MNOPS: inspections review and expectations
  • Procedures and documentation during emergency response
