Utility workforce scholarship program
The MMUA Utility Workforce Scholarship supports individuals interested in pursuing careers in the utility sector. Up to five $1000 scholarships will be awarded to students who enroll in a utility-related career program at an eligible institution. The scholarship is open to students seeking credentials as a powerline/lineworker, gas operator, water and wastewater operator, phone broadband, GIS specialist and other utility-specific programs.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:
- Live in the state of Minnesota
- Complete the application
- Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from a mentor, employer, or teacher
- Answer two open-ended questions in 500 words or less:
- Why are you interested in becoming a utility worker in your chosen field?
- What can you tell us about your knowledge of the utility sector, specifically municipal utilities?
MMUA members are encouraged to share this scholarship information with their communities. Recipients are rewarded in June each year.
