Apprentice Lineworker

The Owatonna Public Utilities has an opening for an Apprentice Lineworker.  The primary functions of this position is to safely perform skilled electric line work in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems.  This includes dismantling of equipment, poles, cross arms, braces, pins, insulators,  secondary racks, brackets, wires and other conductors, meters, switches, fuses, cutouts, voltage regulators, and other related equipment.  Keeps informed on and abides by all requirement OPU safety rules and operating practices, OSHA rules and regulations, and National Electric Safety Code (NESC) rules pertaining to  electric line work.

Qualifications & Education:

Education:  Electric Lineworker Technical Training Certificate/Degree is required.
Experience:  None. Apprentice will participate in a four (4) year program to become a Journey Lineworker.
