ABOUT THE POSITION:
Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position has responsibility for planning, directing, and managerial oversight of our electric utility. The successful candidate will have the skills to work effectively with all utility employees, customers, suppliers, and contractors. Plan and direct the improvements, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution systems. Prepare annual budget proposal and monitor operating and capital budgets.
Successful candidates should have knowledge of safety and compliance monitoring, inventory control, facilities maintenance including substations & the distribution facilities, strong decision-making ability, and basic understanding of finance concepts.
This position is responsible for all regulatory compliance activities associated with the Electric Department including emergency response and follow-up communications, scheduled maintenance and operations work, regulatory record keeping and overall adherence to all regulatory compliance rules and guidelines.

OUR REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Post High School education in electric field is a plus.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years related experience in electric utility operations with a broad knowledge of both transmission and distribution system operation and construction, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous leadership or management role in an electric utility helpful.
• Required to be in the on-call rotation schedule, responding within 30 minutes of call.
• Position is NON-EXEMPT
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver’s license and Class A CDL.
