2026 Gas School
MMUA is pleased to once again offer technical training for natural gas personnel. Gas School is a once-a-year opportunity to acquire new skills and enhance technical expertise. Knowledgeable instructors will offer training on essential topics that can benefit operators, technicians, and other personnel.

This training is intended for participants of MMUA's Gas Circuit Rider program, as well as other municipal personnel. The program can benefit anyone involved with installing, maintaining, or repairing natural gas pipelines and equipment.
This course offers participants practical instruction on a variety of topics and will include:
- Set-up, start-up, and troubleshooting regulations (using compressed air we'll be training in a non-hazardous environment)
- Working with various manufactures' equipment in the field and a combustible gas indicator (CGI) classroom trainer
- Performing leak field investigation in two new leak buildings and best practices for relighting to prevent or minimize backflash
Other topics to be covered include:
- Accident investigation from an insurance company's perspective and recommendations for procedures and documentation during emergency response
- Residential and commercial meters: regulator sizing, roots and turbine meters
- MNOPS: 2026 inspections review; expectations
- High-visibility clothing/outerwear—appropriate for the weather
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- Safety shoes
