Learn About Careers in Municipal Utilities
The MMUA Educational Foundation was formally established by the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) in 2026 as a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to workforce and educational advancement in the municipal utility sector. The Foundation was created to expand MMUA’s long-standing education and workforce development efforts and to provide new opportunities for charitable giving, grants, and partnerships focused exclusively on education.
As a charitable nonprofit, the Foundation can:
-
Accept tax-deductible contributions
-
Pursue a broader range of foundation and philanthropic grants
-
Build long-term, sustainable funding for workforce-related initiatives
This structure allows MMUA to maintain a clear separation between association operations and charitable activities while strengthening its ability to address one of the most pressing challenges facing municipal utilities—attracting, preparing, and retaining a skilled workforce.
