Capstone on Grid Resilience in Minnesota: Regional insights to strengthen statewide response

Tuesday, February 23, 2027
8:00 AM - 11:30 AM (CST)
Category: Regional Workshops

Through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, MMUA conducted a series of six Regional Emergency Preparedness Tabletop Exercises around the state this year. To conclude this initiative, we are bringing participants from all six regions together for a capstone event to share lessons learned and identify opportunities to strengthen Minnesota's preparedness for future disasters and complex emergency events.

The event will bring together partners from emergency management, electric utilities, public safety, healthcare, public works, city and county leadership, state agencies, and critical infrastructure sectors.

Participants will engage in meaningful discussions focused on regional exercise outcomes to identify common strengths and areas for improvement:

  • Examine the operational, logistical, and communication challenges encountered during the regional exercises and identify opportunities to strengthen planning, coordination, and decision-making during large-scale emergencies
  • Explore emerging trends and interdependencies to develop recommendations to enhance preparedness, improve response coordination, and support recovery efforts across Minnesota
  • Conclude with a statewide after-action discussion focused on recovery priorities, restoration of critical services, mutual aid coordination, and long-term community resilience

Your experience and perspective will help turn regional findings into statewide priorities and inform future planning, training, and collaborative initiatives.

There is no cost to attend this event; however, registration is required for planning purposes.

Deadline to register is February 2, 2027.
