Position Summary: The City of Paynesville is seeking applicants to perform intermediate skilled work operating, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing city-owned vehicles, engines, light and heavy equipment. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the City’s fleet, including trucks, heavy equipment, small engines, and specialized public works machinery used in street, utility, irrigation, park, and snow removal operations.
In addition, complete a wide variety of skilled and general maintenance work activities and functions including operating, maintaining, inspection, and repairing the municipal infrastructure associated with the drinking water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution system; wastewater collection, storage and treatment system; center pivot irrigation system; stormwater conveyance, ponds, and treatment systems; streets, trails, and right-of-way; parks, recreation facilities; airport maintenance and operation; and buildings and grounds.
Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED. 1-2 years’ experience in general, skilled or semi-skilled labor performing maintenance, repair, construction, other similar job-related tasks on municipal infrastructure or operating motorized equipment for these activities.
Minimum of two (2) years of mechanical experience (public sector or heavy equipment experience preferred) including diesel mechanics, automotive repair, or related field preferred. Must possess of a valid MN Class B Commercial Driver’s License or equivalent out of state driver’s license with a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years’ experience is desired.
