Applications & Technology Specialist
Position Description:
The City of Fairmont is seeking a versatile, motivated Applications & Technology Specialist! Reporting to the Electric Distribution Superintendent, this position will perform a variety of skilled work as it relates to the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and controls as well as the implementation/operation of SCADA, GIS, load management, and computer-based systems for meter reading and coordination with utility billing processes. This position also performs basic electric system engineering and mapping for the Utility.
Minimum qualifications for this position include two years’ experience in electrical service and two years’ experience in supporting and troubleshooting desktop operating systems OR a combination of education, training, and experience that contributes to an adequate vocational knowledge of information technology (IT) systems, electronics, electrical system technology, and mapping technology. Preferred qualifications include a two-year degree in an electrical-, electronics-, or IT-related field; five years’ experience in the electric utility field; possession of a Ground Radio Operator License; and some understanding of/experience in GIS mapping or a related field.
Successful candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
The anticipated hiring range is $41.26/hour – $45.67/hour, DOQ.
