Regional Safety & Training Coordinator (South Dakota) MMUA
The Regional Safety & Training Coordinator is responsible for conducting electric and general industry training, as well as safety management services for lineworkers and other personnel within a designated region. This role serves as a liaison between employees and management on all occupational safety matters, ensuring compliance, fostering a positive safety culture, and supporting MMUA’s mission and brand.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and deliver training for lineworkers and other personnel, covering all experience levels, to strengthen safe work habits and ensure compliance with industry standards.
· Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on occupational safety, health, and environmental matters.
· Conduct audits, inspections, and post-incident/accident investigations; provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
· Evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) and testing equipment to ensure proper function and integrity.
· Facilitate and advise safety committee meetings; collaborate to enhance a positive safety culture.
· Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
· Support and represent MMUA at events, serving as an ambassador to enhance the membership brand.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve strategic and operational goals.
· Maintain positive relationships with industry partners and state agencies (e.g., MNOSHA, MNDOT).
· May be required to conduct specialized assessments, audits, or other safety-related programs.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
· Standard office, industrial (indoor/outdoor), and home office environments.
· Frequent travel in-state by car (1–31 days per month), with possible overnight stays; occasional out-of-state travel for meetings/conferences.
· Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or higher.
· 130-Hour OSHA Academy Certification.
· Minimum of 7 years’ advanced experience in a safety-related role within the skilled trades industry.
· Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining partnerships and relationships.
· Certified Journeyman Lineworker and 5+ years’ advanced experience in a safety-related leadership role (preferred).
· Demonstrated management, leadership, and program development skills.
· Solid understanding of applicable industry regulations.
· Ability to speak effectively in public.
Salary Range
$90,000 - $115,000 annually
Additional Requirements
· Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
· Must be eligible to work in the United States.
