Safety & Apprenticeship Training Coordinator MMUA

MMUA is seeking a dynamic Safety & Apprenticeship Training Coordinator to support safety programs and develop the next generation of lineworkers across Minnesota’s municipal utilities. This role combines hands-on apprenticeship instruction with safety training, audits, and field support.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide hands-on instruction, coaching, and support to lineworker apprentices · Deliver safety training and ensure compliance with industry standards
· Conduct field audits, inspections, and incident reviews
· Partner with utilities to support apprentice progress and safety culture
· Support Job Training & Safety (JTS) programs and field-based training initiatives
· Maintain training records and evaluate PPE/equipment
· Serve as an MMUA ambassador and build strong member relationships
Qualifications
· Certified Journeyman Lineworker (required)
· 5+ years of linework, safety, or leadership experience
· Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
· CDL preferred
Work Environment & Travel
· Combination of classroom, field and industrial environments (indoor/outdoor)
· Extensive in-state travel required, including frequent overnight stays (often multiple days per month)
· Occasional out-of-state travel for meetings and conferences
· Frequent work in active utility environments and job sites.
Additional Requirements
· Valid Driver’s license
· Eligibility to work in the United States
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
