Job Overview
The Member Experience Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with MMUA members. This role focuses on enhancing member engagement, supporting revenue growth through vendor programs, coordinating communications, and executing trade shows and member-facing activities.

Essential functions

Member relations

  • Serve as primary point of contact for vendor members, supporting recruitment, retention, and engagement
  • Identify and develop opportunities to enhance vendor participation, sponsorships, and program involvement, achieving or exceeding revenue goals commensurate with MMUA’s annual operating plan
  • Build and maintain relationships with members through regular outreach, site visits, and communication
  • Serve as project manager on delivering high-value member benefits such as the annual membership directory, the MMUA Connect app, and the Crossroads platform, meeting annual goals related to these initiatives
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure alignment of member engagement efforts with organizational goals and team deliverables
  • Provide member engagement reports to the CEO and Board of Directors at least quarterly

Communication

  • Coordinate member communications, ensuring timely and effective delivery of newsletters, announcements, and updates
  • Maintain communication calendars and communications project timelines to support organizational priorities
  • Interface with internal team members and external creative resources to support marketing and communication initiatives
  • Support organizational development services by coordinating materials, logistics, and participant communication
  • Complete routine updates of the website in a timely and accurate manner

Trade shows and fairs

  • Attend and effectively represent MMUA at trade shows and fairs
  • Coordinate MMUA’s presence at the Minnesota State Fair
  • Coordinate logistics and execution of MMUA’s trade shows, including vendor coordination, selling and acknowledgment of sponsorships, development and placement of signage, and on-site support

Ideal team player

  • Provide outreach and response to members, vendors, and stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Answer phones and entertain office guests as needed
  • Collaborate with staff to support operational efficiency and program success
  • Conduct all activities in a manner consistent with MMUA culture and values
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and retreats

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a commitment to providing high-quality member service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency with database and/or association management software programs
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities

Work environment

  • Standard office environment
  • In-state travel and event settings

Physical demands

  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally

Travel required

  • Occasional in-state travel for events and member engagement, including 20–25 nights per year

Required education and experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, administration, project management, or related field. Five years of relevant professional experience preferred.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience in associations, utilities, or non-profits
  • Experience coordinating events or programs
  • Familiarity with database or AMS systems

Must be eligible to work in the United States

Pay: $52,400.00 - $65,000.00 per year
