STORMWATER FOREMAN - $42.84 Per Hour

The City of Saint Peter, Minnesota, is currently accepting applications for the position of: Stormwater Foreman in the Department of Public Works.

Starting wage is $42.84 per hour. Position will be open until filled.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and either six years of responsible experience in the operation of a municipal stormwater system or facility, or a similar industrial facility OR 64 semester credits in college courses related to chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary engineer or in business or public administration and four years of experience in the operation of a municipal stormwater system or facility, or similar industrial facility.
  • Possession of Erosion/Sediment control inspector/installer certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of the date of employment with the city.
  • Possession of the Erosion/Sediment control site management certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of the date of employment with the city.
  • Possession of the Design of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans Certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of the date of employment with the city.
  • Possession of a State of Minnesota Class B Water System Operator Certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of the date of employment with the city.
  • Possession of a State of Minnesota Class B Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of the date of employment with the city.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of a valid State of Minnesota Class B driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement and Tanker Endorsement or to obtain within one month of the date of employment with the city.
  • Possession of an American Heart Association Certification as a Basic Rescuer for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiac care or obtain within six months of the date of employment with the city.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of the principles; practices equipment and chemicals used in stormwater, treatment and pumping operations; ability to perform a wide variety of tests on stormwater/wastewater; knowledge of the principles of plumbing and hydraulics; knowledge of and ability to operate computerized Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system; ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Knowledge of stormwater utility principles, practices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction practices used to install city infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of stormwater pumping, treatment and control equipment; demonstrated ability to diagnose problems under emergency conditions and take corrective action; knowledge and experience in the operation of equipment including but not limited to backhoes, trenchers, dump trucks, jet rodder machine, tanker trucks, sewer line TV Camera and line locators.
