Automation / Controls Engineer Glencoe Light and Power
Glencoe Light and Power Commission is seeking an Automation / Controls Engineer to support and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for a municipal utility. This role focuses on control system design, troubleshooting, and system reliability in a utility environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Support control system upgrades, testing, and commissioning
- Diagnose automation, communication, and network issues
- Read, interpret and update electrical schematics and control drawings
- Collaborate closely with operations and field staff
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience with PLC, HMI, or SCADA systems
- Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA architectures
- Familiarity with industrial protocols, especially MODBUS and DNP
- Experience using CAD software for control system design
- Proficiency with ladder logic programming; experience with C or Python is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SEL AXION PLCs and SEL relays
- Familiarity with municipal utility or electrical systems
